Our Annual Chapter Events
NCL Pacific Coast Chapter is rich in traditions. There are many exciting events we hold each year that our members, Patronesses and Ticktockers alike, look forward to year after year.
Our main annual events are:
The Mother-Daughter Retreat is a fun annual weekend getaway that provides the perfect kick-start to our NCL year. It is usually held in September at a getaway destination in Southern California. A typical weekend schedule includes an informal welcome reception on Friday evening, a philanthopy project over breakfast on Saturday morning, and free time on Saturday afternoon. Saturday evening the fun ramps up with a Chapter-wide dinner and dancing. Our Ticktockers provide the entertainment with Grade Level Skits, and our lovely Senior girls always surpise their moms with a poignant yet hilarious tribute. Many of us take the time on Sunday morning to fit in one last philanthropy activity before heading back to HB. It is truly a weekend to remember for mothers and daughters alike!
A fun opportunity for Ticktockers of all grade levels to come together in service. Usually happens in December.
Fashion Show/Silent Auction
The annual Fashion Show and Silent Auction is not only one of our most memorable and fun-filled events of the year, it is also our most important fundraiser! Each year our Chapter raises around $50,000 that we use to award much needed grants to our community philanthropy partners, as well as need-based scholarships to deserving young college-bound women in the Huntington Beach Union School District. Everyone takes part in this morning of fun and fundraising, from our youngest Ticktockers who help with set up, to our Junior and Senior Ticktockers who rock the runway as our featured models. The Fashion Show usually takes place in late February or early March.
Mother/Daughter Awards Luncheon & Tea
This final event of the season honors the many Ticktockers who work tirelessly throughout the year to serve their community. The Awards Luncheon takes place in May.
Grade Level Events
We also have several annual outings in each grade level. These smaller gatherings give us a cherished opportunity to bond as a grade level as we journey together through NCL.
Our grade level traditions include:
The culmination of six years of service and leadership development, this beautifully moving event honoring our graduating Senior Ticktockers serves as the perfect tribute to the young ladies we have prepared to send off into the world. The Senior Recognition Gala usually takes place in April.
The Mystery Outing usually takes place in the summer, and is often the very first outing to kick off the year. It is a great opportunity for Ticktockers to reconnect and reinforce their class bond. The Mystery Outing is just that- a mystery! The planners surprise the group with an unknown local destination, whether it is a hike in the local mountains, a visit to the tide pools, a duffy ride in Huntington Harbour, or any of a number of fun quintessentially So Cal experiences.
Father Daughter Outing
We can’t leave our poor dads completely out in the cold! The annual Father Daughter Outing is the perfect opportunity to let dads in on the fun and see what this NCL thing is all about. The girls are in charge, but they always find the perfect outing to enjoy with their dads.
Grade Level Tea
The Tea is one of the oldest traditions of National Charity League, Inc. Each grade level organizes its own Tea so that Patronesses and Ticktockers may experience both the larger community gathering of our entire chapter, and the more intimate gatherings of the members of their own Grade Level. Seniors enjoy the very special and poignant Senior Medallion Tea, usually in January.
